About the North East Athletic Hall of Fame
The North East Athletic Hall of Fame was founded as a cooperative effort between alumni of North East High School and St. Gregory’s High School, which is also located in North East and which closed in 1968. Athletes, coaches, and teams who won league, district, and state laurels have been named to the hall; many have also achieved in athletics beyond high school. In the past, each year, between 6-14 individuals and usually one or more teams have been honored.
Founding members of the North East Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee, circa 2015 are: Jeff Buchholz, Dick Gregg, Ted Miller, Halli Reid, Gary Murray, Rich Turri, Sherry Elchynski, Jennifer Rodenbaugh, John Piper, and Tom Doyle.
